TIA/EIA-568A and -568B are two standards for connecting Cat3 and Cat5 wire to connectors. Both are good for high speed data, though 568B is somewhat more common for installed wiring and 568A is more common in jumpers. There really isn’t a performance advantage with either standard. The only real difference between the two is the order in which the pairs are used (orange and green).  Hold a cable as if to plug it into a wall jack, the locking tab down (contacts facing you). The contacts are numbered 1-8 from left to right. Here’s what you will see:

When you are ready to wire it all up the following chart will help you assign the pairs to the modular connector

You will need a crimp tool to correctly connect the wire pairs to the modular connectors.  You can get one at the good old Home Depot.  See here:  RJ6, RJ45 Crimp Tool

You will also need to stock up on modular connectors.  I prefer Ideal Industries connectors which are also available at Home Depot here: RJ45 Modular Connector

    thank yu very much for these instrauctions but what i need to know is which wires are for data and which wires are for power.
